it sucks. being a manager is the worst choice because it's constant conscious activity. you can't be in vegetation-mode and just auto-pilot like cashiering. you have to deal with the most irate customers. you have to deal with underling personalities. like, if they don't like the way you ordered them around, they can hold a grudge against you. and, who knows in what form their revenge will come. fuck that. they don't pay enough for that shit.
and, just when i got tossed into the position. three things went wrong. 1 cashier goes to lunch. i'm left with only 2. then, i am supposed to have jewelry, cart attendant, and photo people as back-ups. jewelry chick goes to lunch. cart attendant gets stuck in food avenue because the lady has to cook pizzas. and the photo lady bails and goes to the offices for whatever bullshit reason she has to get out of cashiering. lol omg.. so i'm left to seek out back up cashiers from the main floor. and, these people don't want to cashier either. so, it's difficult to get them there. fucking bullshit. so i did what i could but noone comes to help so i call for the main manager to help out. and she gets people, but they leave after a few minutes. finally fed up with seeing customers line getting really long, so i hop back on to a lane. lol now, i'm stuck cashiering and can't really get out. at this point, my manager comes back and takes over. LOL fucked up. i am hoping they never make me manager again.
oh yea another thing... this one vietnamese lady brought me a plastic bag full of apples while all this was going on. i told my manager about it and she told me throw them away because we are not allowed to accept gifts from guests. sucks.
