giftcards are easy, quick and useful but the end-receiver usually does not remember what they bought exactly with that giftcard. it’s just money. but when you buy something that a person really needs and uses, they will remember you every time they see it. so, the best gifts are items people use, that they will keep using for decades. food, once eaten is gone from memory too.

Yeah, I agree with this. I understand that gift cards and food are given for practical purposes, but the best gifts involve thought and are given out of true love. But that requires planning and we often don’t have the time or want to take it. People often give gifts out of guilt too often, also
.
@scrambledmegsntoast - with this said, i think i only gave out 1 quality gift this year. lol
@mooks_dayoo - Yeah, everyone can probably say about the same thing. If the gifts brought someone happiness even for a short time, that is a good thing though.
Merry Christmas
@scrambledmegsntoast - yea, even the simple act of giving is usually enough. but, i’m thinking greedy here.
Merry Christmas!!
Gift cards are good for people who are very particular about gifts. My husband’s mom does not buy him gifts anymore. She just tells him to go out and buy something for himself and then she’ll pay him back for the item. This way, he gets what he wants and she doesn’t have to go through the stress and disappointment of finding a gift that he’s not going to like anyway. It saves a lot of time and money.
@shoujo - i’m thinking the best case scenario is asking the person exactly what they want and need, and getting it for them. gift cards are cool too. i’d rather get them a gift card too. but, im just talking idealistically here.
