  • i'm tired of seeing all the bing headlines. microsoft should just be happy they have a successful OS and leave it at that. stop trying to dominate everything, it's really annoying.

  • Haha, they made it to #3 google search for the search term 'Bing'. Funny how they gauge the success of their search engine based on their ranking on their competitor's search engine.

  • They don't have a successful OS.  They have a community of highly misguided users who have weathered so many Windows XP security scares and virus storms that they are afraid of what's next, and their users are now so fed up with their crap, they refuse to upgrade, because they know it CAN get worse.  The only reason Microsoft maintains any sort of market share at all is because they've succeeded in cornering the business community into proprietary solutions (which cost FAR more in maintenance and security staff than they're worth) from which there is no easy escape.  Closed source software is like that.  They don't ahve to play nice or follow standards as long as enough people continue to buy in.   As long as the average consumer ACCEPTS that Microsoft has them by the balls, they'll continue to march without regard for actual quality or customer satisfaction.   But realistically, they do NOT have a successful OS.  They have a successful propaganda campaign that advocates the idea that bugs, security clusterfucks, and constant updates are "par for the course" and "part of owning a computer".  While those of us with Macintosh clients sit quietly, enjoying a computing nirvana, the 70% that continue to accept the continuous Microsoft anal penetration struggle with garbage, under the guise that a computer is somehow different than any other appliance, and requires constant care and feeding.  It doesn't.

  • @ginsu417 -your reply makes me want to sit quietly in the steve jobs nirvana.
