  • cashier work

if they allow me to stay at the cashier position,
i'd like to stay at ?arget for another 1 year, instead of 6 months.
i've made so much progress, but i can tell i can grow further if
    given enough time.
there is no better way to force myself to learn social skills.
i am forced to talk to a total stranger and it rotates every few minutes.
i talk to atleast 150-200 customers a day.
there is so much more i can learn.
if i give it more time.
    ofc the pay sucks.
but, at this point it's not about the pay.
it's an huge opportunity to grow.
it's a skill that i will possess for the rest of my life.
and, it's probably as valuable as any skill out there.
and, i'm getting paid to learn it.

  • I agree. There is no better way to learn social skills than customer service or sales.  Try a sales job next time.  It will be even more beneficial.

  • @pax_aeterna - i will definitely keep sales in mind. i have to work myself up to that level though. i think cashier is the right gradient for me at the moment. :D

  • this dude has an awesome attitude. I need some dudes on my team like this when I open up my business someday :)

    Great work ethic brother

  • @YOUNGAZNTIGER - i'm doing some growing now, that i neglected to do when i was younger. i'm learning what my strengths and weaknesses are through this process.

  • @YOUNGAZNTIGER - thanks for the support. :D

  • You can achieve anything if you want it bad enough, no matter what.....so go get it brother!!

I hate when people use all their time self-pitying and regretting shit in their past, everyone has stuff they wish they could have done differently in their past, but only a wise person is going to learn from it and do something about it, to make shit happen in a positive light for the future.

I used do some work on the streets and went through a period of time when I wanted to go legit for my own sense of peace and well being, so I got a job at a Auto shop doing work there. One of my former "associates" stopped by one time and I happened to be sweeping/cleaning the floors after the shop closed.....he had the audacity to crack some jokes about me doing dirty/grunge work.

I didnt give the satisfaction of getting all worked up over it at the time but over the years I've always believed that theres nothing like the experience of  earning a honest dollar from a hard days work.......to keep you grounded on the way to success. Sometimes you gotta know what its like to have to roll up your sleeves and get shit done if you want to be a BOSS one day.

  • @YOUNGAZNTIGER - social skills is what i lack the most. i know this, and i'm gonna use this job to overcome this issue. how can i be a boss if i can't even maintain a normal relationship with co-workers and customers right? i'm still at a very low point functionally, but i gotta start somewhere. i can feel it though, i'm growing. so if i maintain this pace of growth, it should be good in the long run. :D

being grounded is a important point too. i tend to base my confidence off of stupid shit, but i'm starting to establish a sense of confidence based on real experience and real skills that are valued in society.

i don't know how my future will be or what i want to do. but, i think as long as keep learning my basics and keep growing, my options will open up to me in the future, when i'm ready. :D
